What we do at the Cancer Support Community gives medicine the best chance to be successful!

The Cancer Support Community (CSC) has been invited to join the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. CSC is only one of three cancer support/patient advocacy groups to join. The other two groups are LiveStrong and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS). The Commission of Cancer accredits 1500 oncology practices and institutions annually which comprise 70% of all new cancer diagnoses in the US. The Cancer Support Community is working with them to develop new psychosocial standards on screening and care for these 1500 institutions.
Breast & Ovarian Health 101 New Pilot Program: The Cancer Support Community Central Ohio is one of three national pilot program partners to address the issues of genetic risk surrounding breast and ovarian cancer. This educational workshop is created for all women between the ages of 18-45 who are interested in understanding what their lifetime risk of breast/ovarian cancer is and what steps they can take today to be proactive with their health. The workshop consists of a medical professional presentation given by an OB/GYN, a genetic counselor, community advocate, testimonial, and a question & answer session. Workshop materials are included along with a Medical Professional Presentation Kit, pre-post evaluations, and pink cupcake reception.
