The Sherman House

Several years ago, Rob Sherman was diagnosed with lung cancer. Given
the unpleasant nature of such news, Rob’s reaction was anything but
typical. Three years after his diagnosis, he and his wife Susan designed a
place of refuge for others undergoing similar challenges. As he describes it:

When you discover that you have cancer, you conduct the inevitable life
evaluation. I realized that I could do a lot more for people who are facing
similar challenges and who want to explore alternative methods of
treatment. Yet I found no place in Columbus that offered the atmosphere I
felt conducive to such methods; all the programs I found were offered in
relatively sterile settings.

So I looked around, and realized that our own backyard — 13 beautiful,
wooded acres — would be ideal for people to learn and practice alternative
methods of treatment. We just needed to build a retreat. And so we did.

The Sherman Retreat Center was dedicated in November, 2007 by people
representing various faiths. The event featured great food, Reiki
treatments, wonderful people, and many smiles.

TWC is delighted that Rob and Susan have so generously offered this
healing space for use. We are currently offering a Spirituality class there
(see details below) and hope to take advantage of its serene setting for
other future events.

Spirituality at the Sherman House
On March 18, Catherine Wicks, a breast cancer survivor, will tell her story
with humor and a new awareness of emotional and spiritual growth.
On April 15, another speaker will be presented at this lovely location.
