Dear Supporter,
Our mission is to provide support for everyone touched by cancer. The Wellness Community has a vibrant network of caring people committed to fighting cancer everyday. We are here for anyone newly diagnosed, during and after treatment, through long-term survivorship or in advanced disease.
What’s unique about The Wellness Community is that it also provides support to friends and family. So it’s a place where you can go as a family. Through our professionally-led programs of support we have seen many lives change for the better. Let me share with you the story of Susan Michael Barrett and how The Wellness Community changed her life.
The Annual Appeal plays an integral role in positioning The Wellness Community as the premier emotional and social support community in greater Columbus for people with cancer, their families and friends. Financial gifts to the Annual Appeal enable us to maintain and expand our quality programs, hire staff, and increase our neighborhood programs that are always FREE of charge - to men, women, and children, who, just like Susan, have experienced the magic of The Wellness Community.
Over the past four years, we have helped thousands of people learn to live with, through and beyond cancer. No matter where you live, no matter what kind of cancer you have or the stage of the disease, The Wellness Community can help. Our long-term goal is to strengthen the understanding that emotional and social support is essential. Through your generosity, we can help provide support to even more families living with cancer at a time when they need it most.
Please support Many Lives, ONE Community Annual Appeal so we can continue to offer essential cancer support. We welcome and value gifts of every size. The Wellness Community is a registered 501(C)3 non-profit organization and all gifts are fully tax- deductible as provided by law.
With grateful appreciation,
Bev Soult Executive Director
P.S. So that as many people as possible can be served, please send your gift as soon as possible so that we can continue to touch the lives of more than 5,000 people newly diagnosed annually in greater Columbus. Thank you in advance for your kind support.

More than 18 months ago, my life changed overnight when my husband was diagnosed with late-stage Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Two months after the diagnosis, our son age 26, a Navy rescue swimmer, died unexpectedly while on leave.
Stunned and heartbroken while enduring the loss of my son and faced with losing my husband, I entered the doors of The Wellness Community. Both my husband and I were invited and we participated in all the programs. We listened to medical experts give advice and insight, we exercised and did stress management classes, we attended simultaneous support therapy for the caregivers and the people with cancer and participated in the creative and expressive arts programs, all provided free of charge! My husband survived Hodgkin’s lymphoma and through this journey we found a place that gave us hope, support and education. We still go to yoga to connect with others, to learn, be open and honest and real.
Most recently in our cancer journey, my husband’s oncologist found spots on his lungs. My husband and I faithfully attend programs at The Wellness Community three times a week. A month later he returned for a new scan to check on those spots. We expected to hear a recommendation for surgery, but my husband was confident through the programs and his positive attitude, that when the lung doctor walked in he said, “What did you do? I can’t believe these are your scans. The spots are gone!”
We said, “Call it science, healing or the mystery of cancer. We believe it’s the wonder of The Wellness Community.”
